Amma Bama
fish tale

"I have been a big Amma Bama fan ever since the early 1980's when I bought my first one up in Vilas County, Wisconsin.

"Here is a photo of a 52" muskie I caught in Ontario in late June of this year. I got it on a 6" Chartreuse Perch, which was a real good pattern on this trip. I also caught a 43" and 38" fish on the same lure during this week. My partner caught a 46" fish on the same bait after I let him borrow it for a day (his personal best). All fish were released, as were 4 other low to mid 40" class fish caught on other lures.

"In addition, I missed a very large fish several days before I caught the one in the picture, and my partner and I both thought it was larger than this one. My hookset was about as solid as anyone could make with 80 lb. test super line and a heavy graphite rod, but after about 10 to 15 seconds of head shaking on the surface, the fish was gone. Even with the rock-hard finish you put on these lures, and this is no lie, the Amma Bama came back with three little muskie teeth imbedded in it in a nice uniform row!

"... All in all, the Amma Bama is my favorite jerk bait! Several of my long-time muskie buddies feel the same way. Please keep them coming!"

in a follow-up note accompanying the second picture:
"I just bought a couple of your new 10" Amma Bamas that I am looking forward to using in Canada later this Fall when the waters get colder and the weather gets nastier. Actually, my partner who took this photo (Jack C.) just caught a nice 45" fish in N. Wisconsin last weekend on one of the new 10" baits. Amma Bamas are his favorite jerk bait, too!"

Dave landed this 52-inch beauty on an Amma Bama,
but the one that got away is an even better story.

On a trip to Canada in August, 2001, Dave reeled in this fish measuring 47" long and "probably a shade over 30 lbs." on a Green Perch 8" Amma Bama over a deep weed edge falling into deep water.
