Amma Bama
fish tale

Dave B was fishing Georgian Bay, Ontario on November 9, 2002 when ...

"Usually my Amma Bamas stay at home in my collector's cabinet, but on this day I thought if I am going to try Georgian Bay I will bring them. After a few fishless hours I thought, 'Well, let's give them a try!' So I tied on a 'Black Perch' Amma Bama and started casting.

"I had been throwing it and admiring its stunning and flawless action for, maybe, 45 minutes, when it happened.

"The muskie hit and there was no denying it, it was huge!!! The fish did not try to surface, just dogged it down on bottom and I could feel it shaking and thrashing.

"After a few minutes I managed to pump her up to the surface for a brief look before she peeled off more line and continued fighting. After a few more minutes she was safely in the net and not a moment too soon, because she broke off the hook that was holding her (the welded-on barb). After a few photos and some time in my 58" livewell, she was revived and released, with a reproduction mount to be made next year."
